House Speaker affirms 'deep-rooted' Jordanian-Saudi relations

Ammon News - Lower House Speaker, Ahmed Safadi, said Jordan and Saudi Arabia have "historic and deep-rooted" relations.

In press statements on Sunday, Safadi noted joint parliamentary coordination with Saudi Arabia is "ongoing" at its highest levels, adding that Jordan's House and Saudi Shura Council (SSC) were keen to participate in 34th conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) in Iraq to support Arab efforts to achieve their national interests.

Coordination and cooperation with SSC head, Abdullah Sheikh, always aims to support central Arab issues, foremost is the Palestinian cause and strengthen Arab solidarity, Safadi pointed out.

"Jordanian and Saudi sides had meetings at various parliamentary forums, the latest was in Algeria and Egypt, and Saturday in Iraq, as Arab parliamentarians met to affirm their support for Iraq," Safadi added.

Iraq is today more powerful, and is moving towards achieving its national interests according to multi-goal programs that require Arab support for its government, headed by PM Mohammad al-Sudani, he said.

Continuing:" Strong, secure, and stable Iraq constitutes a strength for the Arab nation. We should all work to create a legislative environment that contributes to achieving advanced levels of Arab cooperation in all fields to serve the Arab peoples."

Safadi headed a Jordanian parliamentary delegation to participate in the 34th conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), which was held in Baghdad, with the participation of delegations representing Arab parliaments.
