World Bank: Food prices in Jordan fell by 0.7% in October

Ammon News - Food prices in Jordan decreased by -0.7% last October, however, the Department of General Statistics monitored an increase in consumer prices (inflation) for the same month.
A report for the World Bank, showed that the prices index in Jordan recorded a “very slight” increase of 0.1% in September, after these prices rose by 2.8% last August, 2.6% last July, 2% last June, and 2.1% last May.
The report stated that the General Statistics confirmed by achieving “large develop” in the field of food self-sufficiency, in preparation for the launch of the Jordanian Food Security Observatory within the National Food Security Strategy.
It also mentioned the launch of the Amman Municipality and the United Nations Development program, the first training center for urban agriculture in Jordan, in aim of strengthening Food security in light of the effects of climate change.
The prices increased (inflation) for October last year by 0.76% compared to the same month in 2023, according to the monthly report by the Department of Statistics (DoS), which monitored a cumulative increase for the first 10 months of the current year by 1.56% compared to 2023.
The inflation report for last September also recorded an increase in prices of 1.01% compared to the same month of 2023, and increase for the first 9 months of 2024 by 1.65% compared to the same period in 2023.
