Jordanian Customs seizes expired medicines and food

Ammon News - The Jordanian Customs Department media spokesman stated that the customs cadres working in the Anti-Narcotics Department, in cooperation and coordination with security services, were able to seize large quantities of expired food items estimated at 1,000 kilograms of cocoa, and packages of medical preparations and medicines estimated at about 11,000 packages stored in very poor conditions, and about 76,000 expired plastic medical syringes in addition to large quantities of Muʽassel unfit for human consumption estimated at about 2,000 kilograms seized.

The Customs Department explained in a press release that the customs cadres had seized the aforementioned quantities after a long process of searching, investigating and monitoring carried out by the various departments until the cadres were able to seize the materials and those involved in this operation and deposit them with the competent authorities in preparation for transferring them to the judiciary.

The media spokesman confirmed that the cadres working in the various centers and directorates of the department are working diligently alongside other state agencies to protect the health of citizens from the tampering of weak-willed smugglers and those seeking illicit gain through such illegal methods that put the lives of citizens at risk.
