Thieves strike again: €1m luxury watch stolen in Cannes

21-05-2026 12:26 PM

Ammon News - A luxury watch estimated to be worth between €700,000 and €1 million was reported stolen from a restroom at a luxurious hotel in Cannes, French authorities said.

Authorities added that the watch was stolen amid crowd congestion near the hotel’s restrooms.

The incident marks another case in a recurring pattern of jewelry theft targeting wealthy guests visiting Cannes each year, prompting authorities to tighten security during the festival season.

Notably, more than 12 thefts or attempted thefts involving luxury watches were documented during last year’s festival season, according to prosecutors.

Organized theft networks are known to alter the serial numbers of stolen watches in order to resell them for large sums of money.
