Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Over 100 vehicles carrying sheep from Syria have been stranded for over a week on the Jaber Jordanian border crossing with Syria awaiting customs procedures in order to enter Jordanian territories, livestock owners told Ammon News.

The owners noted that they did not face difficulties while leaving the Syrian side, however they described the Jordanian Customs procedures as "complicated" as they await veterinary inspections.

Hundreds of sheep have already perished amid hot weather conditions, while 350,000 others are still lingering at the border, the livestock owners said.

In order to prevent further losses, the livestock owners called on the concerned authorities to take action, and expressed hope that King Abdullah II would intervene "after decision makers closed the doors in our faces," according to their expression.
