JAS: June 16 marks first day of Eid al-Adha

Ammon News - President of the Jordanian Astronomical Society (JAS), Ammar Sakaji, said that Eid al-Adha will be on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

The calendars that rely on calculating observational sighting probability standards include Eid al-Adha on Monday, June 17, 2024, he added, according to Al-Mamlaka.

Al-Sakji explained,

"Based on astronomical calculations conducted by the JAS, the astronomical data for the month of Dhul-Hijjah 1455 show that the central conjunction or crescent birth will occur on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 3:39 p.m. according to Jordan's time, and at sunset, the crescent will be 4 hours and 1 minute old.
