Ammon News - The Public Security Department’s spokesperson announced that the Anti-Narcotics Department has handled 11 significant drug-related cases over the past few days, leading to the arrest of 23 individuals involved in drug dealing and smuggling.
Among the most notable cases, the department tackled four cases involving drug smugglers and dealers connected to regional smuggling gangs. In Amman, a raid resulted in the arrest of one individual, with two kilograms of cocaine seized at the scene. In two separate cases in Aqaba Governorate, two affiliates of regional smuggling networks were arrested, leading to the seizure of 18 and 17 blocks of hashish, respectively. A fourth raid in Aqaba uncovered 85 blocks of hashish after a suspect was tracked, leading to the discovery of narcotics stored at two different locations.
The department thwarted two attempts to smuggle narcotics across borders. In Jerash, authorities intercepted an individual carrying 100,000 narcotic pills intended for smuggling, confiscating the contraband. Meanwhile, customs officers at Queen Alia International Airport seized a postal parcel bound for a neighboring country containing 40,000 narcotic pills ingeniously concealed within lighting panels. Two suspects linked to this case were subsequently apprehended.
Additionally, security campaigns were conducted in northern Badia and southern Amman, targeting suspected drug dealers. These operations led to the arrest of five individuals in northern Badia, with narcotics found in their possession, and seven arrests in the southern capital area, where drugs were also confiscated.
Further arrests were made in Mafraq, where a drug dealer was apprehended with 9,000 narcotic pills, and in northern Badia, where two individuals were detained with half a kilogram of crystal meth and a supply of narcotic pills. In Irbid, authorities apprehended a dangerous wanted individual following an investigation into his whereabouts.
All cases have been referred to the Public Prosecutor at the State Security Court for legal proceedings. Petra
