Ammon News - Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi met with Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
Safadi and Sheikh Mohammed talked about improving the brotherly relations between their countries and increasing cooperation in different areas following the instructions of King Abdullah II and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The two ministers emphasized in the meeting the importance of halting the Israeli attacks on Gaza and Lebanon and putting an end to the resulting humanitarian crisis.
Safadi and Sheikh Mohammed emphasized their ongoing backing for UNRWA and opposed any efforts to reduce its importance, which would violate international law and worsen the Palestinian people's hardships.
The two ministers also talked about continuing to work together to provide aid to Gaza, and emphasized the urgency for the international community to take immediate action to address the severe humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza caused by Israel's blockage of aid.
They stressed that the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital based on the two-state solution is the only way to achieve security, stability and peace in the region.
Safadi appreciated the great efforts made by Qatar in cooperation with the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States of America to achieve a swap deal that leads to a permanent ceasefire.
Safadi and Sheikh Mohammed stressed the continuation of joint work to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza and end the humanitarian catastrophe it is causing and launch a real effort to achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution and in accordance with the approved references.
They stressed the Kingdom and Qatar's support for brotherly Lebanon and its security, sovereignty, stability and the safety of its citizens and the need to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire and implement Security Council Resolution 1701 in full.
