Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Safadi, welcomed on Wednesday the decision to recognize Norway and other countries as the State of Palestine, appreciating that such decisions are an affirmation of the path to peace and the two-state solution, noting that there are other countries that will join Spain, Norway, and Ireland to recognize the State of Palestine.
During a joint press conference with the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjártó, Safadi said that Israel must stop all illegitimate and illegal measures in the occupied territories, respect the right to live and common peace, and push towards a two-state solution.
Safadi stressed that the Israeli occupation forces are not performing their duty to protect aid convoys heading to Gaza and the West Bank, which indicates that the occupation force is continuing its ongoing violations that violate all international conventions and treaties.
Jordan is the largest country hosting refugees in the world relative to its population, and many donor countries have begun to abandon their role and are trying to place responsibility for refugees on the host countries, he noted.
The Minister also warned that the situation is worsening, and the repressive measures in the West Bank are hindering peace, and things have gotten worse in Gaza, and if the situation explodes, the conflict will take a more dangerous turn.
For his part, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjártó said that Jordan deserves all support from Europe because if it had not taken care of millions of refugees, we would have had to do so, stressing that Hungary and Jordan and their cooperation are built on the basis of mutual respect and stable relations.
Szijjártó stressed the need for the international community not to allow the situation in the Middle East to escalate and for there not to be any open wars between countries in the region.
Safadi and his Hungarian counterpart signed 4 memorandums of understanding in the field of youth, environment and education between the government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, represented by the Ministry of Youth, and the government of Hungary, represented by the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, which contributes to areas of cooperation between the two countries.
