JD600k to conduct comprehensive plans for Jaber, al-Karama crossings, Minister says

Ammon News - Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya said on Wednesday that the government attaches great importance to border crossings, as they are the first interface that a visitor sees while coming to Jordan.

While he was at the Omari Border crossing center to follow up on the movement of passengers, Al-Faraya added that there is a comprehensive government plan related to the border crossings, as work is currently underway to establish a new crossing in Aqaba al-Durra border crossing, in addition to finishing some of the passenger terminals for the al-Karama crossing with Iraq.

The government has allocated JD600,000 to conduct comprehensive plans related to the Jaber border with Syria and al-Karama border with Iraq.

Regarding the King Hussein Bridge linking Jordan and the Palestinian territories, the minister spoke about the existence of a tender for new buildings and facilities.

Al-Faraya pointed out that Jordan is expected to witness an active movement of people coming from Saudi Arabia to Jordan, speaking about the entry of 24,000 people last year during one working day at the the Omari crossing border.
