MP calls for raising smoke, travel tax

Ammon News - MP Ali Tarawneh called for raising the tax on smoke, alcohol and travel, in return for reducing it on fuel.

Tarawneh said during a parliament session on Wednesday, that the fixed fuel tax has a direct impact on the Jordanian treasury.

He also suggested to reduce the flat tax on fuel, calling for the adoption of a parliamentary memorandum to reduce the fixed tax on fuel and replace it with other alternatives.

Among these alternatives are smoke, alcoholic beverages, banks, major companies, electricity and communications, as well as travel at airports, Tarawneh said.
