Ammon News - The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) on Wednesday evening organized the annual gala dinner in Oasis Hotel in Jericho, attended by Jordanian Ambassador to Palestine, Issam Budour.
During the ceremony, Budour said Jordan and Palestine celebrate resumption of joint tourism activity after 2-year disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which impeded progress of the tourism process.
The pandemic has affected the Jordanian-Palestinian tourism plans "almost completely," he said, noting that cooperation and coordination is the way to move forward in joint planning, under the theme: "Tourism Brings us Together."
Jordanian tourism is celebrated in the tourist city of Madaba, by highlighting its attractions in Jericho, the oldest city in the world, he said, calling on the need to think "creatively" to develop pre-agreed plans.
For her part, Palestinian Minister of Tourism Rula Maayah said the two countries celebrate resumption of their tourism activities after a 2-year hiatus.
The first sector affected by the pandemic was the tourism sector, and is the last industry to recover, Maayah noted, affirming that it will recover soon.
Meanwhile, Khaled Kilani, JTB representative, said Jordan is working to promote its tourist destinations in several Arab countries, adding that tourism is a source of income for sector's workers and all community components.
On future plans, he said Jordan and Palestine will sign a tourism cooperation agreement for the next three years, which will be implemented.
