Ammon News - Jordan ranked the 3rd globally for the countries that export the most olives for the year 2021, with 8,613 export tons, and Portugal came in the lead after exporting 51.73 thousand tons, then Spain 27.3 thousand tons, according to the latest report of the "FAO".
Spain topped the countries of the world in olive production during 2021, producing 8.256 million tons, Italy came second, by a large margin, with a production of 2.227 million tons, then Turkey 1.73 million tons, then Morocco ranked 4th in the world and first in the Arab world with a production of 1.59 million, and Portugal 1.37 million tons.
Egypt ranked the 6th with a production of 976,000 tons, then Algeria with 704,000 tons, Tunisia with 700,000 thousand, and Syria with 566,000, and Saudi Arabia ranked 10th in the world and 6th in the Arab world with a production of 382,000 tons.
As for olive oil, the report showed that Spain topped the countries of the world in 2021, producing 1.07 million tons of oil, then Italy 343.9 thousand tons, then Portugal 213,000 tons, and Tunisia 185,000 tons.
Jordan is among the top 10 olive-producing countries in the world, with more than 20 million trees located throughout the kingdom, according to the FAO.
