During a meeting, which was attended by Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labor Yousef Shamali, Khasawneh stressed the importance of His Majesty King Abdullah's visit to Algeria earlier this month and his talks with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The Prime Minister said he asked a ministerial team to visit Algeria soon to complete the discussion on areas of cooperation that were tackled during the summit talks.

Khasawneh noted the historical relations between Jordan and Algeria, adding that the royal visit to the North African country focused on cooperation in economic, investment, trade, tourism, medical tourism, agriculture and energy fields, as well as training and exchange of expertise in technical and vocational education and health capacity building.

Jordan, he said, would put its expertise in many sectors at the disposal of the Algerian "brothers", adding that the Kingdom welcomes the revival of medical tourism between the two countries, which facilitates the treatment of Algerian patients in Jordanian hospitals, pointing to the "successful experience" of Jordanian pharmaceutical companies with investments in Algeria and the need to build on it.

The premier also announed that Royal Jordanian, the national carrier, is considering the resumption of direct flights between Amman and Algiers at the rate of two flights a week.

For his part, the Algerian minister reaffirmed his country's keen interest in further enhancing relations with Jordan in many fields, noting in particular an interest in the treatment of Algerian patients in Jordan due to the advancement the Kingdom had made in the health sector, adding that a bilateral medical tourism agreement will be renewed soon.
