Ministry of Social Development, WFP discuss cooperation

Ammon News - Minister of Social Development, Wafa Bani Mustafa, discussed Monday, with the Regional Director of the World Food Program (WFP) Regional Director Corinne Fletcher ways to enhance joint cooperation.

During the meeting, Bani Mustafa stressed the importance of cooperation with the program through the memorandum of understanding that was previously signed with the ministry, and common aspirations to frame cooperation in the medium and long term, appreciating the cooperation of the WFP in supporting the National Aid Fund (NAF).

She indicated that the ministry is currently holding consultative sessions with the WFP to update the ministry's risk management strategy, to benefit more from the program's experience, and to strengthen the institutionalization of capacities to respond to disasters, through efficient social protection programs for such cases.

Bani Mustafa stressed the need to work with the WFP to develop a program to enhance productivity in the ministry, and to enhance the capabilities of technical staff at the ministry's center and field levels.

For her part, Fletcher appreciated the joint cooperation between the Ministry of Social Development and the WFP, noting that the strategy of the Program for the coming period is in line with the government's vision in the field of strengthening social protection.
