Ammon News - A Cabinet session, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Khasawneh, on Sunday approved the mandating reasons for amendments of 2022 Social Security Corporation (SSC) Law and send it to Legislation and Opinion Bureau (LOB) to complete the procedures for its issuance, giving it the status of urgency.

The draft law aims to provide more protection for SSC beneficiaries by amending eligibility conditions to receive maternity leave allowance.

It also provides an opportunity for private sector establishments to reduce costs for employing jobless youth and thus slashing subscription payments for joining SSC's services and umbrella.

Moreover, it reflects the Royal Decree issued in June of 2020 by adding an additional year of service for active personnel in the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army and security agencies on the date of the decree's issuance.

In addition, the bill launches additional privileges for the military injured vets and reviews subscription payments pumped by JAF and security apparatuses.

The draft law achieves more social protection for the divorced or widowed daughter by giving her a share of her deceased father's salary.

Under the new amendments, the mechanism for appointing SSC Chairman of Board of Directors and Deputy Chairman of SSC Investment Board will be amended, in accordance with corporate governance requirements.
