Ammon News - The Lower House Monday referred a number of draft laws to its specialized committees in a session chaired by Speaker Ahmed Safadi and attended by Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh and cabinet ministers.

The legislature debated a draft law ratifying the extradition agreement between the governments of Jordan and Cyprus, a bill canceling an oil shale concession agreement between the Natural Resources Authority and the Jordan Oil Shale Company, an amendment to the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Law, a draft amending the land registration fees law and the amended civil status bill, and passed them to concerned committees.

Lawmakers also approved a government request to give the draft law regulating the legal accounting profession a sense of urgency.

During today's session, MPs urged the government to take "positive and serious" action to alleviate the economic burden on citizens, including reducing fuel prices, particularly kerosene and diesel during winter, and address economic challenges facing Jordan.
