Senate president talks cooperation with Italian, Spanish envoys

Senate President, Faisal Fayez, on Wednesday discussed separately with Italian and Spanish ambassadors to Jordan, respectively, Luciano Pezzotti and Aranzazu Banon Davalos, bilateral relations and the region's current situation.

Speaking at his meeting with Pezzotti, Fayez lauded the "high" level of the Jordanian-Italian relations, stressing the importance of strengthening and developing them in various fields.


The discussions also dealt with a number of issues of common interest, foremost is orchestrating joint efforts to overcome the Covid-19 crisi-induced repercussions in various sectors, importance of increasing Italian investments in the Kingdom, and building economic partnerships between the two friendly countries in various fields, according to a Senate statement.

Meanwhile at his meeting with Davalos, Fayez referred to the Jordanian-Spanish "historic" relations, based on mutual respect and common interests, pointing to the two countries' shared positions on many issues of common concern, especially with regard to the region's security and stability.

Fayez affirmed Jordan's "constant" keenness to strengthen relations with Spain and maintain joint coordination and consultation, simultaneously stressing the importance of strengthening economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries and activating bilateral agreements in various fields.

For their part, the Italian and Spanish ambassadors stressed the importance of Jordan's pivotal role, under His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership, in working to resolve various "pending" issues in the Middle East and bring peace to the region.

In addition, the envoys commended Jordan's "remarkable" role in extending care for Syrian refugees, stressing their countries' pride in their relations with Jordan and their keenness to strengthen them in various fields.
