Foreign Ministry denounces Israeli Knesset member's incursion into Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned incursion of an Israeli Knesset member into Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif compound on Thursday morning, under protection of the Israeli police.

In a statement on Thursday, the ministry's official spokesperson, Haitham Abu Al-Foul, said the Jewish extremists’ incursions and their "provocative" behavior are a violation of Jerusalem's existing historical and legal status quo and international law.

Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif, with its entire 144 dunum area is a place of worship purely for Muslims, he noted, adding that Jordan-run Jerusalem and Al Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department is the legal authority with the exclusive power to manage all affairs related to entry to the holy site, he pointed out.
