Ammon News - Jordan's trade balance deficit in January of 2022 increased by 19.1 percent, hitting JD770.8 million compared to JD647.1 million in the same month of 2021.

According to a monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics (DoS) on Wednesday, total exports in January of 2022 reached JD577 million, up by 27.3 compared with the JD453.1 million recorded in the same month of 2021.

National exports in the same month of 2022 rose by 29.3 percent, reaching JD523.5 million compared to JD404.8 million in the same month of 2021, figures showed. The value of re-exports in January were at JD53.5 million, up 10.8 percent compared with the JD48.3 million recorded in the same month of 2020, the DoS added.

Imports also went up by 22.5 percent, reaching JD1.347 billion compared to the JD1.1 billion recorded in the same month of 2021.

Accordingly, the export-to-import ratio stood at 42.8 percent in January of 2022, compared with 41.2 percent in the same month of 2021, indicating a 1.6 percent increase.
