Jordanian-Japanese investment forum convenes in Dubai

Secretary-General of the Ministry of Investment, Zaher Qatarneh, stressed the importance of coordinating efforts to increase cooperation between Jordan and Japan in investment and economic fields.

Speaking to a Jordanian-Japanese investment forum organized Monday in Dubai, Qatarneh said that the Ministry of Investment is ready to provide all services needed by Japanese investors.

During the forum, organized in cooperation with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), on the sidelines of the Kingdom's participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, Qatarneh delivered a presentation on Jordan's investment environment and comparative advantages, according to a ministry statement.

In turn, JBIC Director stressed the importance of these meetings, which bring together investors from the Japan, who are interested in investing in Jordan, noting that the cooperation between the two sides is constant and fruitful.

Meanwhile, the Kingdom's ambassador to Japan, Lina Annab, who participated virtually in the forum, said that there is a great Japanese interest in investing in the region, as Jordan constitute an ideal destination for Japanese companies, stressing the embassy's readiness to participate in any efforts that help increasing economic cooperation between the two countries.

While Japan’s Ambassador in Jordan, Shimazaki Kaoru, who participated virtually in the forum, lauded Jordanian-Japanese relations, and expressed his country's embassy readiness to cooperate with relevant authorities to increase the level of cooperation between the two countries.

A group of major Japanese companies interested in investing in the Kingdom participated in the forum, including: Mitsubishi, Sumitomo, Mitsui, Itocho, Morabini, Teudatocho, Hitachi, MUFG Bank, Sumitomtsui Bank, in addition to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

Participants from the Jordanian side included, in addition to the Ministry of Investment, the Ministries of Energy and Mineral Resources, and Water and Irrigation, as well as associations of: Jordanian businessmen, Jordanian banks, Intaj for information technology, and Adama for Energy, Water and Environment.

The forum, which was attended by the Jordanian Consul General in Dubai, Asem Ababneh, and the economic advisor in Dubai, Nader Hammad, discussed key investment advantages in the Kingdom, in addition to investment opportunities presented to the Japanese side.
