Army foils drug smuggling attempt from Syria

Northern Military Zone personnel, in coordination with the military security and the anti-narcotics departments, have foiled a drug smuggling and infiltration attempts from Syria into the Kingdom, a source at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said on Sunday.

The source added that the rules of engagement were applied, leading to the retreat of suspects to Syrian territory.

He added that military and security personnel seized 1,021,851 Captagon pills and 35 palm-sized sheets of hashish, in addition to several weapons that were all referred to the relevant authorities.

The source stressed that the army won't tolerate any infiltration or smuggling attempts to protect citizens and the security of the Kingdom.
