In a meeting with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, Safadi stressed the importance of the Jordanian-European partnership, and the European role in addressing economic challenges.

The minister lauded the European support for the Kingdom through propping up the development process and facing the ramifications of regional crises.

Borrell underlined the European Union's appreciation of the Kingdom's key role in resolving regional crises and achieving security and stability.

The Palestinian cause was at the forefront of the issues the two officials reviewed, with Safadi hailing Europe's position which backs the two-state solution, and rejects unilateral steps that undermine it, especially with regard to settlements, land confiscation, and the displacement of Palestinians from their homes.

Safadi underscored the need to move quickly and effectively to find a "real political horizon" to achieve lasting peace on the basis of the two-state solution and in accordance with international law.

He said that the Palestinian issue is the basis for instability in the region, and the two-state solution, which envisions an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on pre-June 1967 lines with Jerusalem as its capital to live alongside Israel in peace and security, calling the solution the only way to achieve a just peace that is vital for regional and international security and stability.

In addition, Safadi discussed with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ivan Korcok prospects for increasing bilateral cooperation and regional and international developments, in addition to the latest developments of the Ukrainian crisis and its ramifications.

Safadi also discussed ties with the Sri Lankan Minister of Foreign Affairs Gamini Lakshman Peiris and other regional and international issues.
