Ammon News - The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) on Wednesday warned that electricity bills could rise for those who failed to register on the newly launched e-platform — kahraba.gov.jo — calling on the eligible households to avail the subsidised electricity tariff, especially those who consume less than 937 kilowatt/hour.

Counting down the final days until implementing the new tariff, Energy Ministry’s Spokesperson Mashhour Abu Eid said that the new tariff is to be implemented on April 1, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The tariff of the first 600 kilowatt/hour is subsidised, even if the consumption exceeds 600 kilowatt/hour. The supported category will include all Jordanian citizens with a national number, Gazans residing in Jordan, as well as temporary Jordanian passport holders. The subsidy also included renewable energy projects with a capacity of no more than 3.6 kilowatts.
