Head and members of the Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee met Monday with Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, on latest developments related to regional and international issues.

Chair of the Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee MP Khaldoun Hina, said Safadi briefed the committee on the diplomatic efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah, outcomes of the recent visit to Norway and Germany, developments of the Palestinian cause and Jordanian-Syrian and Jordanian-Iraqi relations, as well as the ministry's efforts to secure the return of Jordanians from Ukraine.

Hina lauded the Jordanian diplomacy led by His Majesty King Abdullah, which enhanced Jordan's positioning on the world map, and in Arab and international forums.

Safadi, in turn, said that the Jordanian foreign policy, led by His Majesty, aims to serve Jordan's national interests through a network of distinguished strategic relations with various countries of the world, which was drawn by the King.

He added that under the directives of King Abdullah, 3 Royal Jordanian Air Force jets were dispatched to evacuate Jordanian citizens who had left Ukraine.

Safadi noted that the ministry had devised a prior plan to deal with development in Ukraine, as it had earlier called on Jordanian citizens to leave the country and launched a platform to update the data of Jordanian citizens residing there.

"After the outbreak of military operations, we were the first country to send delegates to Ukraine neighboring countries to facilitate the return of Jordanians, and things went well, and a large number of Jordanians left Ukraine, while about 70 Jordanian citizens remained and informed us of their desire to stay in Ukraine, and we are following up on their conditions," Safadi explained.

He pointed out that Jordan's firm position calls for the need to respect international law, the Charter of the United Nations, principles of good neighborliness, and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.

The minister touched on regional developments, foremost of which was the Palestinian issue, and efforts aimed at re-launching peace negotiations on the basis of international law and the approved references, stressing that Jordan devotes all its efforts to support the Palestinian brothers to obtain all their legitimate rights.

He discussed developments related to the Syrian crisis and its repercussions, and efforts to resolve crises to achieve security and stability in the region.

Safadi highlighted cooperation projects and programs within the framework of the trilateral cooperation mechanism with Egypt and Iraq, to enhance cooperation and integration to serve the interests of the three countries and the region, as well as enhancing joint Arab cooperation.

For their part, committee members commended Jordanian diplomatic efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah, and the Foreign Ministry's role in bolstering ties with brotherly and friendly countries, and serving Jordanian communities in various countries of the world.
