Ammon News - The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) are working side by side to achieve the tourism-related priority of the government's economic program for 2021-2023, which entails attracting 4.5 million tourists by 2023, through supporting charter and low-cost flights, JTB Director General Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat said on Tuesday, Jordan News Agency reported.

Arabiyat told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that JTB continues to support charter and low-cost flights operated by EasyJet and RainAir airlines, and is planning to bring in an additional low-cost flights operated by Wizz Air airline.

"Work is underway to promote the national tourism product through global platforms, along with launching marketing campaigns in collaboration with international travel agencies," he added, noting that the target markets currently include the Arab Gulf States, Europe, the United States and Canada, while China and India will be targeted at a later stage.

As part of the marketing campaign, he indicated, JTB will be taking part in international tourism exhibitions and events to promote Jordan's position on the world tourism map, in addition to designing and producing new content for social media and global search engines describing the Kingdom's archaeological sites.

"Also, JTB is diligent to increase the rate of tourism revenue and the number of overnight stays in tourist accommodation to its pre-COVID levels, by reducing visa and entry restrictions, or by simplifying the visa-issuance process," Arabiyat added.
