King receives Cypriot Foreign Minister

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday welcomed Foreign Minister of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, and discussed bilateral cooperation and regional developments.
King Abdullah stressed Jordan's keenness on promoting ties with Cyprus, affirming the need to build upon outcomes of the Tripartite Summit, held in Nicosia this year and comprised Jordan, Cyprus and Greece, to promote partnership and cooperation and achieve security and stability in the Middle East.
The meeting touched upon investment privileges in the Kingdom and opportunities to benefit from its strategic location and free trade agreements with many countries.
On the Palestinian issue and Jerusalem, His Majesty stressed the need to intensify efforts aimed at breaking the deadlock in the peace process and re-launching negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis based on the two-state solution to the establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The meeting also addressed challenges facing the churches in Jerusalem and the role that Jordan plays in protecting Islamic and Christian holy sites in the Holy City. It also covered regional crises, efforts to reach political solutions, and the fight against terrorism within a holistic strategy.
The meeting was attended by the Chief of the Royal Court, the Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, the King's Advisor, the Director of His Majesty's Office, and the Ambassador of Cyprus in Amman.
