"Irada and Islamic National", government to raise the minimum wage

23-11-2024 04:23 PM

Ammon News - The Irada and Islamic National Blocs demanded, in a parliamentary memorandum addressed to the government, to activate the decision related to raising the minimum wage, which was frozen for two consecutive years, where it was agreed at that time to raise the minimum wage and link it to inflation rates.

According to the memorandum that reached Ammon on Saturday, the demand to raise the minimum wage comes in light of the successive increases in prices and the weak purchasing power of citizens, especially those working in the private sector with low incomes; This is in line with the provisions of Articles (140, 141, 142, 143) of the internal regulations of the Jordanian House of Representatives.

The memorandum indicated that the tripartite committee formed under Article 52 of the Labor Law from the three parties of production (government, workers and employers), and the committee decided at the beginning of 2022 to keep the minimum wage at (260) dinars for the years 2023-2024, provided that it is reviewed at the beginning of 2025 to recalculate it so that the minimum wage, which is currently 260 dinars, is increased by adding inflation rates cumulatively for the years 2022-2024.
