Army foils infiltration, drug smuggling attempt

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The eastern military command, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) and the Military Security Department foiled an attempt to smuggle a large amount of drugs into the Kingdom from Syria, a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army source said on Sunday.

The military source added that the rules of engagement were applied after the border guards spotted a number of persons who tried to approach the border, adding that three people were arrested, while the others fled back to Syria.

After searching the area, a Kalashnikov, 2,972 bullets , 580 palm-sized sheets of hashish, around 103,010 Tramadol pills and 195,000 Captagon pills were seized and referred to the concerned authorities, the source added.
