Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A new ambassador has been appointed to Jordan.

The government unanimously approved the appointment of Amir Weissbrod on Sunday as Israel’s envoy to the Hashemite Kingdom in a vote that was basically a ratification of a decision made earlier this month.

Weissbrod has served as the Foreign Ministry’s head of the Middle East division at the Center for Political Research.

The new ambassador replaces Einat Schlein, who was forced to step down after the Jordanian government refused to allow her return following a shooting incident last summer at the Israeli embassy in Amman.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry will now send an official request to the Jordanian government for its approval of the appointment of Weissbrod.
