Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Monday hailed his country’s relations with Turkey.
“Jordan’s relations with Turkey are steadily progressing,” Safadi said at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Amman.
He said his talks with Cavusoglu tackled a host of regional issues, including the Palestinian cause and the Syrian crisis.
Safadi said Amman and Ankara share identical views about Jerusalem and rejected a recent U.S. decision to officially recognize the holy city as the capital of Israel.
“Our talks have provided an opportunity to discuss challenges facing the development of economic relations between the two countries,” he said.
The top Jordanian diplomat underlined the importance of reaching a political solution to the conflict in Syria.
“We will continue our cooperation to reach a political solution," Safadi said.
Commenting on the Turkish Olive Branch military operation in Syria’s northern Afrin city, Safadi said "we hope that it will end up with a result that would ensure safety for Turkey."
