Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Tourists will be able to explore little-known corners of one of the Middle East's hidden gems, Jordan, when the Jordan Trail is ready to hike along its entire 650-kilometre length in 2018.
The north-south route already takes travellers to the famous historical city of Petra, with its iconic rock-cut architecture, as well as smaller regions off the beaten track.
The hiking route is split into eight parts, each of which take around four to seven days to complete. It follows the East Bank of the Jordan Valley from the Syrian border to the Red Sea, taking in mountains, deserts and more verdant country.
There's the opportunity to get an authentic taste of Jordanian culture by staying overnight at the homes of locals.
The Jordan Trail Association has been working with 52 villages along the route to set up accommodation and eating opportunities for hikers.
