The 42-year-old recounts his hunting story, saying: “We were on a hunting trip in Kenya on a boat close to Tanzania one day before Ramadan. While we were looking around, I found a giraffe and was feeling hungry. I had a feeling its meat would be delicious.” “At the time, there were some villagers nearby who were with us and who were poor Muslims. They asked us hunt and slaughter the giraffe and to distribute the meant among the poor,” he told AlArabiya.net. He said that in the video that went viral over the summer, he could be heard saying that the meat was going to be devoured by his friends and what was left would be returned back home to Saudi Arabia. He clarified to AlArabiya.net that “it was just a joke between close friends and family”.
