Ammon News - AMMAN Prime Minister Samir Rifai said local and international NGOs have a key role in following up tomorrow's parliamentary elections.

At a meeting with a delegation from the National Democratic Institute (NDI) for International Affairs, currently on a visit to Jordan to have a closer look at the polls, Rifai said the government is committed to enforcing law in all election-related procedures to make the polls a success and a qualitative add to Jordan's reform march.

"The government has created the suitable environment for credible elections," he said, adding that the government allowed local and international NGOs to monitor all stages of elections.

Youths have a strong role to play in the ballot, Rifai stressed, noting that exercising their constitutional obligation would help a parliament that is capable of achieving Jordanians' ambitions and goals.

Commenting on vote-buying issues, the premier said the government is strict and serious to follow up any related violations, noting that a number of persons were referred to court after being charged with vote-buying.

Members of the NDI delegation valued progress in various sectors in Jordan. They noted the government preparations for elections, hailing facilitations presented for local and international observers.

They affirmed that they don't have no comments on elections' preparations so far.

The National Democratic Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working to support and strengthen democratic institutions worldwide through citizen participation, openness and accountability in government.
