7 million passengers through Jordan's airports in 9 months

Ammon News - According to data from the Ministry of Transport, the overall count of travelers arriving and leaving to and from Jordan's airports hit 6.99 million during the first nine months of this current year 2024.
The Ministry of Transport's data on transport sector performance indicators, monitored by "Al Mamlaka," revealed that the total passengers arriving and departing at airports totaled 2.687 million in the third quarter of 2024, down from 2.975 million in the same quarter of 2023, representing a 10% decline.
It stated that the total passengers and arrivals in the second quarter of 2024 reached 2.254 million, reflecting a 5% decline from the same quarter last year.
It reported that the total passengers and flights to and from airports in the first quarter of this year reached 2.013 million, a drop of 30% in comparison to the same quarter last year.
Jordan has three airports: Queen Alia International Airport located south of Amman, Amman Civil Airport (Marka), and King Hussein International Airport in the Aqaba Governorate.
The information showed that the overall count of planes flying to and from all airports reached 61.5 thousand aircraft in the initial 9 months of this year.
It showed that the overall count of airplanes arriving and departing from airports reached 22,537 in the third quarter of 2024, reflecting a 10% decline from the same timeframe last year.
It stated that the total of incoming and outgoing aircraft reached 21 thousand in the second quarter of this year, a 6% drop from the second quarter of 2023, while the figure for the first quarter of this year was 18 thousand, reflecting a 30% decline compared to the first quarter of the previous year.
Regarding the total volume of air freight both arriving and departing from all airports, it reached 100 thousand tons in the first nine months of this year, with the freight volume in the third quarter of this year approaching 38 thousand tons, marking a 93% increase over the same period last year, as per the data.
It highlighted that the air freight volume in the second quarter of this year reached 40 thousand tons, reflecting a decline of 2% from the same quarter last year, while the air freight volume for the first quarter of this year was 22 thousand tons, a reduction of 68%.
