Ammon News - Minister of Water and Irrigation, Raed Abu Saud, and Australian Ambassador to Jordan, Bernard Lynch, discussed in a meeting on Wednesday ways to strengthen collaboration in water management and address the impacts of climate change.

The discussion, according to a Ministry press release, focused on enhancing joint efforts in water projects in Jordan. Minister Abu Saud outlined the growing challenges faced by Jordan's water sector, including the widening gap between water demand and supply exacerbated by climate change, population growth, and the influx of refugees.

Abu Saud detailed ongoing initiatives aimed at improving water management, such as integrating alternative energy sources for water facility operations, implementing comprehensive programs to reduce water loss, and increasing the efficiency of water supply systems. He also highlighted significant projects like the National Carrier, which are designed to address long-term water needs in Jordan.

The minister acknowledged Australia’s continued interest and commitment to fostering effective cooperation with Jordan in water and sanitation. He noted the strong bilateral relations, which are set to celebrate 50 years, and expressed optimism about expanding collaborative efforts in water management.

Ambassador Lynch commended the Ministry's efforts to enhance water efficiency and address water-related challenges, particularly those arising from climate change. He affirmed Australia's dedication to supporting Jordan's vital water projects and collaborating on shared water management programs and expertise. Petra
