Ammon News - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources stated that oil and gas exploration activities are ongoing in various areas of the Kingdom, including the Risha gas field, but discussing export potential is not feasible at this moment.
Linda Al-Naimat, the media spokesperson for the ministry, stated that the gas output from the Risha field might only satisfy a portion of local energy requirements and enhance the overall energy composition, but discussing export potential isn’t feasible right now, as the development of gas fields demands additional time and years of effort.
She emphasized that the amounts of gas found in the Risha field aid in bolstering the local industrial sector, as part of the ministry's initiative to supply gas to local industries and its beneficial effects on the sector, such as lowering operational costs for industries, enhancing competitiveness in regional and global markets, and increasing employment opportunities.
Al-Naimat emphasized the importance of approaching the expectations ceiling in this delicate economic issue rationally, ensuring that the sector's reality is understood holistically and from a strategic perspective.
The Director of Natural Resources at the Ministry of Energy, Bahjat Al-Adwan, informed Al-Mamlaka that research indicated the existence of commercially viable amounts in the Risha gas field, estimated to be 9.4 trillion cubic feet. Al-Adwan mentioned that research suggests there are significant amounts of gas in the Risha gas field.
