"The stations of the National Seismic Monitoring Network detected Thursday morning, at 6:52:29 am, an earthquake in the middle of the Red Sea with a magnitude of 4.40 on the Richter scale and a depth of 32 kilometers," the SGS said in a statement on its official X account. "The cause of this earthquake is due to the fault in the Red Sea, which represents the western limit of the Arabian plate and its divergence from the African plate," the SGS added. SGS’s spokesman confirmed in the statement that the Saudi borders were not affected by this earthquake.
