Ammon News - The Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Zhang Jun, expressed his deep regret over the Security Council's failure to agree on the Russian draft resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza.
Jun added that his country's rejection of the politicization of the humanitarian issue, noting that protecting civilians is a priority for all of us.
He stressed the dire consequences of the comprehensive Israeli siege on Gaza and the displacement of the residents of northern Gaza, expressing his hope that Israel will listen to the international community calls and restore the supply of water, electricity and fuel to Gaza and stop the collective punishment of its people.
He also stressed the Chinese support for accelerating the opening of humanitarian corridors, and "China will provide urgent humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip through the United Nations and bilateral channels."
