Ammon News - Jordan and Egypt's senate presidents held talks on Sunday in Cairo on economic, political and parliamentary cooperation and regional developments, according to a Jordan senate statement.

Jordan's Senate President Faisal Fayez commended the Jordan-Egypt ties, describing them as "strong and well-established," adding that coordination between the two countries is "constant."

Fayez noted the "need" to build on the Jordanian-Egyptian ties, especially under the "difficult" regional developments, calling for concerted efforts and more economic cooperation and joint investments.

He invited Egyptian investors to explore investment opportunities in Jordan, especially in mining, water, energy, public transport and medical tourism.

Fayez said that to address regional economic challenges, "there is an urgent need" to hold an Arab economic summit for businessmen and representatives of economic sectors to come together and launch what he described as a unified Arab economic union project.

Fayez lauded Egypt's support for Jordan and His Majesty King Abdullah in bringing peace to the region and resolving the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution and for the Hashemite Custodianship of Muslim and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.

Egyptian Senate President Abdel Wahhab Abdel Razek said Egypt is keen to strengthen Jordan-Egypt ties, commending Jordan's role in serving pan-Arab and Islamic causes.

He reiterated Egypt's support for the King in bringing peace to the region and ending the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories based on the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions.
