Enhancing nation's resilience, defend Arab, Islamic causes "state's key functional role": PM

Ammon News - Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh said that the key functional role of the Jordanian state, as per His Majesty King Abdullah constant directives, is to enhance the nation's resilience and defend the causes of the Arab and Islamic nation.

"Our functional role is to protect, by all means at our disposal, Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Haram Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif under the Hashemite custodianship, which His Majesty King Abdullah undertakes responsibly, steadfastly, patiently and complacently, supported by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, our armed forces, our security apparatus, and our proud people of all origins," The Prime Minister added in a speech after concluding the Parliament’s debates on the 2023 draft state budget law on Wednesday.

"The government hasn't made promises that it cannot keep, and it will continue on this approach of frankness and credibility with our leadership, with the Parliament, and with our good, patient people who are loyal to their homeland, leadership and values," Khasawneh said.

With regard to MPs demands on supporting students from the Student Support Fund, the Prime Minister said that the government will work to cover the largest possible segment by making some budget transfers, according to the available items.

With regard to reports on some administrative divisions and municipalities, Khasawneh said: "This matter is in its final stages, and we will carry out pledges made on these divisions in accordance with mechanisms that have been approved and agreed upon with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Local Administration."

The Prime Minister underlined that the government will carry on the reform project led by His Majesty King Abdullah, which he launched as as the Kingdom enters the bicentennial of the Jordanian state with its three axes: the political, the economic modernisation vision, and the public sector modernisation roadmap.
