Ammon News - A parliamentary memorandum called on the government to address the US administration, the European Union (EU), the United Nations (UN), the World Health Organization (WHO) and all countries participating in the sanctions imposed on Syria, to immediately end the economic blockade and sanctions.

The memorandum, which was adopted by MP Khalil Attia, and signed by more than 20 MPs, called for immediate economic and medical assistance to the Syrian people, to mitigate the effects of the earthquake that hit Syria and Turkey.

"The sanctions caused the suffering of international relief organizations in transporting the necessary supplies, money or medicines across the borders to Syria", according to the memorandum.

The memorandum mentioned also that "It has been proven that these sanctions are ineffective, unfair and a crime against humanity because they target civilians, including children, the sick and the elderly."
