Ammon News - FM conveys King's condolences to Syrian president over earthquake victims

Amman, Feb. 15 (Petra)--Syrian President, Bashar Assad, on Wednesday, received Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, who conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah II's condolences for the earthquake victims.

Safadi also conveyed His Majesty's affirmation of Jordan's firm solidarity with Syria and its stance to provide all humanitarian and relief assistance for the affected people in Syria.

During the meeting, Safadi said Jordan, in implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah II's directives, will continue to send aid to brotherly Syrian people.

For his part, President Assad thanked His Majesty King Abdullah II for Jordan's solidarity with Syria in facing the earthquake consequences and its aid dispatched to the Syrian people.

President Assad also lauded His Majesty's clear stances in supporting Syria in these difficult circumstances.

Jordan began dispatching aid to Syria immediately after the earthquake, through planes operated by the Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) and Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), in coordination with the Syrian government, to Damascus.

In addition, Jordan sent aid to Aleppo, in coordination with the United Nations, to be then delivered to people affected by the earthquake in northern Syria.

Jordan is also dispatching aid to all people affected by the earthquake, in coordination with Syrian government and the United Nations.

Today, a new Jordanian aid aircraft will arrive in Damascus, while trucks continue to deliver aid by land.

Safadi also discussed with Syrian President ways to develop bilateral relations to serve common interests.

During the meeting, President Assad and Safadi discussed efforts exerted to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis that addresses all its humanitarian, security, economic and political consequences.

During Safadi's visit, which came as an expression of Jordan's solidarity with Syria and an opportunity to discuss relief needs, Safadi held extensive talks with his Syrian counterpart, Faisal Mekdad.

Later in the day, Safadi is scheduled to visit Turkiye in solidarity with Ankara after the earthquake and will discuss relief needs, as he is slated to meet his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu.
