Ammon News - Jordan on Monday condemned the Israeli government's decisions to build additional settlement units and to "legalize" settlement outposts in the occupied West Bank.

Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Sinan Majali warned in a statement that such Israeli measures could lead to further escalation and violence, urging the international community to take swift and decisive action to put an end to such practices, which threaten undermining all efforts to bring about peace and security.

Majali affirmed that expanding settlement construction and displacing Palestinians from their homes is a flagrant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions, foremost of which is the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2224.

The ministry's official spokesman stressed that the unilateral breaches carried out by Israel, as the occupying power, such as building and expanding settlements, confiscating lands and displacing Palestinians, are illegal, rejected and condemned practices that represent a serious violation of international humanitarian law.

He warned that such moves undermine the foundations of peace, efforts to resolve the conflict and achieve a just and comprehensive peace, and the chances of a two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions.
