Army foils drug smuggling attempt at Syrian border

Ammon News - Border patrols on Sunday stopped an attempt to smuggle large amounts of drugs out of Syrian territory through the Jordan-Syria border.

A Jordan Armed Forces - Arab Army source said in a statement that border guards intercepted a group of smugglers attempting to cross into Jordanian territory from Syria. The troops engaged the smugglers, injuring some and pushing them back into Syrian territory, according to the source.

The smugglers left behind 181 palm-sized sheets of hashish and 179,000 narcotic pills, the source added.
