Ammon News - Temperatures on Monday are expected to be a few degrees above the annual average, with relatively cold weather prevailing in most parts of the country, except in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba where it will be fair, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.

In the evening, the Kingdom will be gradually affected by a weak state of atmospheric instability with cloudy skies and a chance for intermittent showers in the southern and northern highlands, accompanied by thunder at times, the JMD added.

As we head into Tuesday, a cold and wet air mass associated with an air depression centered over northern Cyprus is expected to grip the Kingdom, pushing mercury levels down and triggering chilly and cloudy weather with rainfall in the northern and central regions, the meteorologist noted.

Heavy downpours are forecast at times with thunderstorms and hail, causing flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas.

Toward evening and night hours, rainfall will stretch to cover the southwestern part of the country, with a chance for light showers of snow mixed with rain over the southern high peaks of Al-Sharah mountain range, forecasters predicted, indicating that winds will be westerly brisk with strong gusts at times, exceeding 60 km/h in some areas and blowing dust in the Badia.

Extremely cold and rainy conditions will persist on Wednesday, with a possibility of snow showers in the southern highlands, the JMD further said.

Temperatures in the capital Amman today will range between a high of 16 degrees Celsius and a low of 5C at night, while the port city of Aqaba will see a fair 23C, sliding to 13C at night.
