Qatari newspapers highlight King's visit to Doha

Ammon News - A number of Qatari newspapers in their editorials on Thursday highlighted the talks held by His Majesty King Abdullah II and Qatar Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in Doha Wednesday.

The Qatari dailies, including Al-Raya, Al-Watan, Al-Sharq, Al-Arab and Lusail, agreed that relations between Qatar and Jordan reflect a strategic integration between the two countries.

Al-Raya newspaper said that the Qatari-Jordanian relations are strategic and united by bonds of Islam, Arabism, common history, and honorable stances towards Arab and Islamic issues, adding that the mutual visits between the leaderships of the two countries reflect the great momentum witnessed by the bilateral relations and the common visions and perceptions towards Arab, Islamic and international issues.

In this context, the newspaper noted the talks held between Sheikh Tamim and King Abdullah, which discussed promoting the fraternal bonds and cooperation between the two countries in various political, economic, and investment fields to achieve the joint aspirations of the two nations.

It explained that the mutual visits made by the Qatari and Jordanian leaderships highlight a shared desire to develop relations through joint and continuous coordination in fateful issues of concern to the region and the future of Arabs and Muslims, adding that the meeting was an opportunity to discuss the most prominent regional and international developments of common concern, in addition to achieving stability, security, and development in the region.

Al-Raya highlighted the roles played by Doha and Amman for the security, stability, and peace in the region, which is clear by the volume of joint coordination between the two countries, especially in the Palestinian issue. In this regard, Qatar renewed its full support for the Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.

Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that the visit of King Abdullah to Doha came during a sensitive and important stage for the region and the people, which requires integration and cooperation to face various challenges, adding that Qatar is also one of the biggest investors in Jordan, as its investments rose to more than $4.5 billion in real estate, hotels, tourism services, banking, health, and energy.

Under the headline "Deep Ties", Al-Watan said that the talks held by Sheikh Tamim and King Abdullah stress the strong and deep-rooted relations between the two countries, as well as the importance of maintaining consultation and coordination on issues of mutual concern and in service of Arab causes and regional stability and cooperation.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations at the level of ambassadors in 1972, bilateral relations have witnessed a remarkable development in all fields, thanks to the wise vision of the two leaderships, in a way that serves the common interests as well as security and stability issues in the region, it added.

Qatar and Jordan share a principled and firm stance on the first Arab cause, the Palestinian cause, and commitment to enabling the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital. Both countries also share a great interest in unifying Arab ranks for the good of Arab countries and peoples and achieve security and stability, Al-Watan noted.

In turn, Al-Arab newspaper pointed out that Yesterday's talks held between Sheikh Tamim and the King aims to strengthen the close relations between the two countries, which have been going on for more than 50 years.

The newspaper stressed that the talks between the two leaders are a new start in an extended historic relationship between the two brotherly countries, and reflect their keenness on continuous consultation for the benefit of the two countries and the people of the region. The directives of the two leaders during the talks will play a role in activating a number of agreements and MOUs that will certainly lead to the consolidation of relations between the two countries in various political, economic, and cultural fields, the newspaper added.

Al-Arab concluded by stating that relations with Jordan enjoy the attention of the Amir, not only because the two countries utilize their political positions and economic capabilities to serve the Arab and Islamic nation, especially the Palestinian cause, but also due to the similarity in the positions of the two countries towards many of the central issues in the region.

The summit between the two leaders constitutes a step forward in the development path of the historic relations between the two countries, Al-Sharq newspaper stressed.

The paper also noted that the summit was held amidst crucial challenges in the Middle East, which requires integration, cooperation, and intensified efforts to achieve security, stability, and lasting peace in the region; pointing to the focus on the Palestinian issue in the talks between the two leaders and the work towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

Al-Sharq also said that the development of the cooperation between the two countries in various sectors translates on ground the wise vision and directives of the two leadership. The exchange of official visits by senior officials resulted in a significant number of agreements and memoranda of understanding that frame solid and well-established relations in various political, economic and cultural areas.
