Ammon News - Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi Tuesday called for closer coordination with the government and the private sector, which are all partners, for the success of Jordan's partnership with Iraq and Egypt.
Safadi spoke at a meeting with the heads of the Jordanian Businessmen Association, the Association of Banks in Jordan, Jordan Chamber of Industry, Jordanian Construction Contractors Association, Jordan Chamber of Commerce and Jordan Exporters and Producers Association for Fruits and Vegetables.
The Lower House chief briefed the private sector representatives on his just-concluded visit to Baghdad, stressing the private sector's key role in bilateral and trilateral ventures with Iraq and Egypt.
Safadi called for forming a higher committee from the legislature and the private sector to coordinate with the government to remove barriers facing the private sector regarding trade and economic exchange, and promote investment between the three countries.
The heads of private institutions noted that the parliamentary delegation's visit to Iraq would open new scopes for Jordanian investments in Iraq and find job opportunities for Jordanian youth in the country.
They referred to Iraqi assurances that the implementation of the Basra-Aqaba oil pipeline will start soon as well as setting up a Jordanian-Iraqi economic zone, which will enhance joint economic action for the benefit of the two countries.
