Ammon News - In an unprecedented case compared to its records, the State Security Court sentenced a drug dealer to life imprisonment and a JD20,000 fine after convicting him and his partner of importing 4,100 kilograms of cocaine.

In an open session held Tuesday, the court gave his partner a 10-year jail term and a fine of JD20,000.

The court sentenced the first defendant with the harsher verdict due to his criminal record of drug trafficking. It had previously awarded him five years of prison and a JD5,000 fine.

In 2021, the two convicts were arrested while attempting to import cocaine in mini fridges from a neighboring country via a shipping company. The Anti-Narcotics Department then tracked the shipment and confiscated 4,100 kilograms of cocaine.
