Ammon News - Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and the Irish Foreign Minister Micheal Martin Monday talked over the phone about Jordan-Ireland ties and regional developments, especially in the occupied Palestinian Territories.

Safadi and Martin noted the two countries' commitment to increasing cooperation and coordination, bilateral ties and ties as part of Jordan's partnership with the EU.

Safadi commended Ireland's support for the Palestinian cause, Jordan's custodianship role of Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem and the support provided by Ireland to UNRWA, noting the "important" role that Ireland played during its non-permanent membership in the Security Council, which ended last December.

In turn, Martin affirmed his country's interest in boosting bilateral ties and lauded Jordan's role in upholding regional security, stability and peace and hosting refugees.
